03/2020. The new COVID-19 pandemic is sadly the big news of 2020.The ever higher increase of new infections makes us aware that the health of people directly or indirectly involved in the POSEIDON technical activities is more important than anything else. The Pandemic had an impact and still has an impact on the technical activities of the project:
In August 2020 we decided to pospone the project of 6 months.
Despite the possibility to travel across EU countries for work, the POSEIDON consortium decided to avoid face-to-face meetings between partners and limit the personnel involved in the measures that will be carried out, for the protection of the health of the people involved
04/2020 – 07/2020. Virtual system integration. To limit the number of person involved in this activity the integration of the radar system has been carried out remotely. The integration was performed firstly using CAD software, and specifically by integrating all subsystems using CAD models of each component. To do that both CNIT and CARTOGALICIA cooperate through e-mails and virtual meetings. The use of CAD software has been useful to foreseen some problems before the physical integration
09/2020. Physical integration. Some months later we have carried out the physical integration. The radar was sent from Italy to Spain in order to integrate it and perform preliminary tests
09/2020. First flight to test weight, power and endurance. The radar is powered by the drone itself without using a dedicated battery.
